Mustang is located in the southeastern corner of Canadian County, OK. The city has a total area of 12 square miles. As of 2019, the city has an estimated population of 22,959.
The city was established in 1898 but it wasn’t formally established until the former Mayor of Oklahoma City, Charles G. Jones, filed a plat in November 1901. Agriculture was the base of the city’s economy until the middle of the 20th century where the city slowly shifted to dairy and beef industries.
Mustang has its own recreation center which houses a gym, sports complex, aquatic center, and a conference center. Today, the city of Mustang is considered to be a bedroom community for Oklahoma City.
